10 Household Helpers To Be Thankful For

Thanksgiving is almost here! It doesn't get much better than enjoying parades, football, and a nice, hot meal with your family and friends. And of course, in honor of the holiday so many of us go around the table to share what we're most thankful for. This simple tradition puts into perspective what so many of us take for granted throughout the year and reminds us of how truly blessed we are.

Here at Floor It we have plenty to be thankful for as well. A growing business, for instance, and all of the amazing clients who have gotten us to where we are today. But we also have some little things that, while they may seem silly, make our jobs both as flooring professionals and homeowners a lot easier. And they're things that you might find yourself thankful for too, because they're all things that make owning and maintaining a beautiful floor that much easier. Just take a look!

10 Household Helpers We All Should Be Thankful For:

1. Door Mats

Putting a door mat at the entrance of your home is one of the best, most inexpensive ways to keep your floors clean and lengthen their lifespan! No matter what kind of floor you have, door mats are immensely helpful when it comes to keeping them clear of damage-causing grit and dirt.

2. Furniture Pads

These tiny pieces of felt or wool work are basically super heroes in the world of hard surface flooring. Furniture pads take away the stress of worrying about whether or not your chairs, tables, and sofas will leave scratches on your floor.

3. Homemade Cleaners

Eco friendly, cheap, and easy to make?! We have a lot to thank the home-cleaning pioneers that came up with all of the easy DIY floor cleaner recipes that we're able to use every day.

4. Area Rugs

We are thankful for area rugs because they are not only an easy way to change up the aesthetic of any given room to keep your home looking trendy, but they are also great for protecting your floor from any possible damage. Plus, they keep your toes extra toasty in the winter. That's a win in our book!

5. Wet-Dry Vacs

A wet-dry vac is able to clean where no other vacuum can, allowing you to keep your carpeting fresh! What more can we say? They are the ultimate secret weapon in the battle for a sanitary, stain-free home.

6. Dry Mops

Nothing is more efficient at picking up dust and grit while remaining gentle on your hardwood floors than a dry mop. We love these handy tools because they leave very little mess behind and you can use them as often as you want on your floor without worrying about damage!

7. Wood Stains

If you need to breathe some new life into your hardwood floors without completely replacing them, a good stain is the way to go!

8. Electric Sanders

Speaking of re-staining your floors, electric sanders make the job A TON easier since you have to sand down the original stain to make way for the new one. Imagine how many grueling hours that would take if you had to do it all by hand!

9. Climate Control

Indoor heating, air conditioning, humidifiers and de humidifiers; these are all blessings to your hardwood floors. Being able to control the humidity in your home makes warping, cupping, and crowning among your floorboards a significantly smaller issue.

10. Internet

Finally, we are thankful for the internet and the ability it's given us to reach out to all of you! We love educating our clients, and we are grateful for the fact that there are countless resources available on the world wide web that can teach you everything you need to know about properly caring for your floor.

So, what are you thankful for? Let us know!

Happy Flooring!
