Are Floors a Good Christmas Gift?

Well, as it does every year, Black Friday has reigned in the holiday shopping season with about as much subtlety as a tornado siren. Thanksgiving dinner was hardly finished before the door-busters started in all of the big-name stores. With the sales came the 5:00 a.m. alarms, the crowds, the never-ending lines, and the infamous mall madness that has become a tradition in America. It's impressive what people are willing to go through to find the perfect gifts for their loved ones.

Last year we went over just a few of the many reasons why it might be worth skipping all of the hassle and drama that comes with Christmas shopping to get a new floor for your loved ones instead. We believe our argument still stands, so we wanted to share it with you once again before you get too far into your shopping list.

Don't get us wrong, we know flooring isn't the best gift for everyone on your list. If someone's floors are still in great condition or you have a $30 spending cap on your gift exchange, this may not be the right option for you. But even if this Christmas isn't the right time, there will eventually come a day where you will find someone close to you in need of a home renovation, so read on to find out why a floor would make a perfect gift for them!

New Floor = New Room

When you change out a floor, you're not just remodeling the space beneath your feet; you're changing up the entire room! Without switching a single thing other than the floor, you can create a completely new feel in a room, giving it a refreshing "face lift". Take a home from dingy to elegant. Tired to beautifully modern. Unimpressive to noteworthy. Anyone on your list who enjoys, or perhaps needs a loving nudge toward change will adore the newness of their home once they've received your gift.

A New Floor Will Never NOT Be Used

As corny as it may sound, flooring is literally the gift that keeps on giving. Out of sheer necessity, floors are "used" everyday in one's home; fashionably holding up furniture and the people who walk in and out of each room. You'll never have to worry about someone forgetting or under using your gift if you opt for a floor.

Kill An Entire Flock of Birds With One Stone

A floor is not just a gift for one person. It is a gift for an entire household and every guest that enters it. Depending on whose house you're buying for, you can knock out your entire list of people - maybe even yourself - with one gift! If you break it down this way, the cost really isn't all that much compared to what you might have spent on presents for multiple individuals.

You Can Save Face - And Money - In The Long Run

If the price of buying a floor as a gift is still daunting, remember that you don't have to isolate it to one holiday. There's no shame in giving a disclaimer upon the presenting of your present. Tell your loved ones that their new floor is their "big gift" for the year. It'll cover anniversaries, birthdays, Easter, Valentine's day, etc. in addition to Christmas. Doing this will prevent everyone from feeling like they didn't get a big enough gift for you AND it will make it so that you won't have to remember to go shopping every time a holiday comes around. One gift and you're done! It doesn't get much better than that.

Your Gift Will Be Both Practical and Sentimental

It's important to keep in mind that buying a new floor as a gift is significant in three very special ways. It's a practical gift that will be used for years, it is a generous gift that will show the persons you give it to how much you love them, and it is sentimental in the sense that you are investing in their home. Not their house, not a random room, but the betterment of the most sacred place a family can return to. It is one of the most well-rounded gifts you can buy, and sure to be a crowd pleaser for all.

Happy Shopping!
