So you are thinking about installing laminate flooring for your home and don't know where to start. Well...we have you covered as always. Laminate flooring installation can be challenging if you don't know what you're doing, but it can be done for that DIY-er inside of you.
We have put together a quick video with some tips for helping you get setup. Below are some more tips.
Shoe Molding Pry Up
If you are installing laminate flooring in a room that is quarter-round with shoe molding along the baseboard, simply remove it. Leave the baseboard molding in place.
Grab your pry bar & pry up the shoe molding. (Be careful not to damage it because you'll replace it after installing the laminate floor). The shoe molding will cover the 3/8" wide expansion gap between the laminate planks and the baseboard. When putting the shoe back into place, make sure you are nailing it into the baseboard and not the beautiful floor you just installed.
Subfloor Prep
It is crucial that you prep the subfloor when installing laminate flooring. Make sure the surface is smooth with no nails sticking up. Grab a sander and make sure all is smooth & even before installinglaminate flooring.
Underlayers
Be sure you are using a great underlayer for your project. We highly recommend using quiet walk and we used it in our video above.
