Christmas Scents and Floor Pairings

Lights, stockings, and glass ornaments are a great start for setting the Christmas mood in your home, but to take the effect to the next level you are going to have to cater to more than one of your five senses. Of course you have decorations taking care of sight, gifts and hugs for touch, Christmas dinner for taste, and an endless supply of holiday songs for you to listen to. All that's left is smell! To remedy that we've put together a list of our favorite floor and scent pairings.

Hardwood Floor and Look-Alikes (Laminate, Vinyl, Linoleum)

Fresh Pine, Fire Crackle, Orange & Clove

To us, wood floors demand rich, earthy scents that go along with the natural look they add to a room. Something that will make you feel like your in your own Christmas cabin, even if your style leans more toward a modern aesthetic.

Carpet

Sugar Cookie, Toasted Marshmallow, Cinnamon

Carpeting is the coziest of all floors and feels the most homey, so we love pairing it with the most comforting scents of Christmas. Warm, spicy and/or sweet scents are sure to add to the marvelous awareness of being safe and warm inside as the winter chill settles itself just outside your window.

Tile

Peppermint, Snowfall, Winterberry

Most rooms that have tile floors tend to be more open and airy. Not quite sterile, but not nearly as cozy as a room with wood or carpet. Take advantage of that distinctive quality by filling these rooms with bright, fresh scents that will bring you and your guests some extra Christmas cheer.
