Easter Is Here! How To Get Egg Dye Off Your Floor

On Tuesday we talked about how to remove that nasty egg yolk off of your floor, but what happens when a wayward drop of Easter egg dye makes it way to the ground? That stuff is strong, and nobody wants do deal with purple and teal floor stains for the rest of the year. Here's how you can make sure your house survives the egg dying frenzy.

Wood:

First, give a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser a try. Sometimes this is enough to remove a dye stain. If it isn't, however, there is another way.

Make a paste of lemon juice, white wine vinegar, and baking soda. Rub it into the dyed area with a sponge before spraying it down with a little water. Wipe it away with a soft cloth. If some of the dye is still around, repeat the process until it's gone.

Carpet:

Mix 1/4 of a teaspoon of dish liquid (not dish detergent, not laundry detergent) with a cup of warm water. Dampen a soft cloth or paper towel with the solution and blot the area with it until the dye is gone.

Linoleum/Vinyl:

The process of getting dye stains out of these materials is pretty simple. Put a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and scrub until the stain is out. Acetone will work just as well. If all else fails, pour white vinegar over the stain and let it sit for half an hour. Thoroughly soak up the vinegar with a paper towel and you're done!

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!!!
